Launch of the National Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Strategy

On Monday, December 11, 2023, a ceremony was held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Tripoli, Libya, where the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Engineer Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, announced the launch of the National Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Strategy. This announcement comes as part of a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Planning, the Renewable Energy Authority, the General Electricity Company, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The event was attended by several prominent figures, including:
• Mr. Adel Jumah, Minister of State for Government Affairs and the Cabinet.
• Mr. Mohamed Zaidani, Minister of Planning.
• Dr. Abdel Salam Al-Ansari, Chairman of the Renewable Energy Authority.
• Omar Al-Qaed, Board Member of the General Electricity Company.
• A representative from USAID in Libya.
• Several ministers, heads of councils, and officials from renewable energy and electricity authorities.
• Members of the diplomatic corps in Libya and specialists in energy and environmental fields.
This strategy is considered a crucial step towards enhancing the use of renewable energy and improving energy efficiency in Libya, contributing to sustainable development and reducing reliance on traditional energy sources.
