As part of the National Strategy for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency 2023–2035, adopted under Cabinet Resolution No. (630) of 2023, Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Ansari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Renewable Energy Authority, held a meeting with Eng. Omar Tuwaish, Member of the Board of the Authority, and Eng. Omar Ali Al-Qaed, Member of the Board of Directors of the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL), alongside Mr. Pedro, Director of TotalEnergies Libya, and Mr. Bashir Bzizi, Deputy Head of TotalEnergies’ Libya Branch.

The meeting focused on accelerating the procedures related to the 500 MW solar power plant project in the Saddada area. The participants emphasized the importance of adhering to the agreed timelines, in line with the outcomes of the previous meeting held in Istanbul, which represented a key turning point for the project.

The Renewable Energy Authority and GECOL expressed their readiness to commence the actual implementation of the project, while TotalEnergies reaffirmed its eagerness to begin on-site activities during the upcoming year.
