As part of efforts to strengthen international partnerships and implement the national strategy for renewable energy, the Renewable Energy Authority held a coordination meeting today, Thursday, July 17, 2025, with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) at the Authority's headquarters in the capital, Tripoli.
The meeting was attended by the Acting Chairman of the Board of the Renewable Energy Authority, along with directors of departments and offices within the Authority. Ms. Sophie Khakhmzadeh, UNDP Resident Representative in Libya, was also present, while the Director General of the Libyan Center for Solar Energy Studies and Research participated via Zoom, along with a representative from the General Electricity Company.
The meeting focused on several key topics aimed at enhancing cooperation in the field of renewable energy, particularly in areas such as national capacity building, training, preparation of technical studies, and planning for future projects that support Libya’s efforts to expand the use of clean energy sources.
The discussions also emphasized the importance of supporting the Renewable Energy Authority in the implementation of strategic projects and strengthening its role as a central national institution in achieving the transition to sustainable energy.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants reaffirmed their commitment to advancing joint cooperation and intensifying coordination among various national and international stakeholders, in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable development and supporting the country’s renewable energy goals.
