As part of efforts to strengthen partnerships and coordination between national and international entities in the energy sector, a joint meeting was held on the morning of Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the headquarters of the Renewable Energy Authority. The meeting brought together the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL), the Libyan Center for Solar Energy Research and Studies, and representatives from the European Union Delegation to Libya.
The meeting featured a visual presentation on the National Strategy for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, outlining the priorities for the upcoming phase and the Libyan state's general orientation toward transitioning to clean energy sources, with a particular focus on solar energy.
Discussions also covered investment opportunities in renewable energy projects and identified potential areas for technical and financial support from the European Union to help accelerate the implementation of key projects and deliver tangible impact on the ground.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants reaffirmed the importance of continued cooperation and coordination among all relevant stakeholders, and the need for joint efforts to achieve Libya’s national goals in energy transition and sustainable development—contributing to long-term economic stability and energy security in the country.
