Conclusion of the Workshop on the Renewable Energy Law with the Participation of Prominent Libyan Decision-Makers

The workshop on the Renewable Energy Law concluded in the Tunisian capital after two days of sessions, with high-level participation from a distinguished group of Libyan decision-makers and experts in the energy sector. The event was held within the framework of cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and GOPA Intec.

The workshop was attended by:

  • Dr. Aisha Al-Tublqi, Member of the House of Representatives and the Energy Committee
  • Dr. Mohamed Belhaj, representative of the Prime Minister’s Office
  • Eng. Omar Al-Qaed, Member of the Board of Directors of the General Electricity Company, along with his accompanying delegation
  • Eng. Nasr Al-Deen Al-Barqly, Eng. Aseel Younes Mohamed, Eng. Omar Al-Twaish, and Eng. Ibrahim Kanah, Members of the Board of Directors of the Renewable Energy Authority, with their accompanying delegation
  • Dr. Youssef Al-Naas, Director of the Libyan Center for Solar Energy Research and Studies
  • Dr. Khalil Al-Aroudi, representative of the National Planning Council

The workshop also included participation from a number of international and regional experts and consultants in the field of renewable energy.

The sessions focused on reviewing the draft Renewable Energy Law in Libya, and opened the floor for extensive dialogue among participants regarding the main challenges and opportunities in this vital sector. The discussions resulted in positive consensus and constructive recommendations, paving the way for the adoption of a modern law that aligns with current developments and promotes broader use of renewable energy sources in Libya.

This event underscores the importance of regional and international cooperation in supporting Libya’s efforts toward a transition to sustainable energy, and opens new horizons for the development of modern legislative and regulatory frameworks that contribute to the country’s economic and environmental development.
