"The Renewable Energy Authority discusses investment and cooperation opportunities with the German Embassy in Libya’s clean energy sector."

Dr. Abdel-Salam Al-Ansari, Chairman of the Renewable Energy Authority, held a meeting with Mr. Daniel Schimsky, Deputy German Ambassador and Chargé d’Affaires to Libya, in the presence of Engineer Aseel Younes Mohammed and several department directors of the Authority.

The meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Libya and Germany, with a focus on Germany’s active role in investing in and developing the renewable energy sector in Libya.

The discussions centered on several key areas, including:

  • Investment Opportunities: Reviewing promising prospects in the fields of solar and wind energy.
  • Strengthening Bilateral Relations: Exploring mechanisms to enhance relations between the two countries and transfer advanced German expertise and technologies.
  • Legislative Efforts: Reviewing Libya’s steps toward establishing a legislative framework to attract foreign investors, particularly from Germany.

The Libyan side expressed its appreciation for Germany’s continued support, stressing the importance of such partnerships in diversifying energy sources and achieving sustainable development.

For his part, the German Deputy Ambassador expressed optimism about the potential of Libya’s renewable energy sector, affirming his country’s readiness to provide technical support and explore opportunities for direct investment.

This meeting represents a new step toward strengthening cooperation between the two countries and paves the way for future agreements and projects that will place Libya back on the clean energy map in the region.
