Renewable Energy Authority Explores Cooperation and Funding Opportunities for Clean Energy Projects with the African Development Bank Group

As part of its efforts to accelerate the transition to clean energy, Engineer Aseel Younes Ertima, Board Member of the Renewable Energy Authority, received this morning, Tuesday, May 6, 2025, a high-level delegation from the African Development Bank Group. The delegation was led by Ms. Malin Blomberg, Vice President for the North Africa region at the Bank, at the Authority’s headquarters in Tripoli.

The visit aimed to explore prospects for joint cooperation, support, and encourage investment in renewable energy projects by strengthening partnerships with international financial institutions and expanding opportunities for Libyan private sector participation in this vital sector.

On the sidelines of the visit, an extensive meeting was held, attended by several directors and department heads of the Authority. The meeting focused on discussing the financing mechanisms available through the African Development Bank, how to leverage them to empower national private sector companies, and enhance their roles in developing and advancing the renewable energy sector. Additionally, the meeting included an exchange of views on technical and institutional cooperation tools between the two parties.

This visit aligns with the Renewable Energy Authority’s vision to encourage private sector engagement in implementing the National Strategy for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, contributing to strengthening the national energy system’s capabilities, and supporting the state’s directions toward building a diversified and sustainable economy that meets current needs and promotes stability and prosperity throughout Libya.
