Today, Thursday, 11 December 2025, a meeting was held at the headquarters of the Renewable Energy Authority, attended by the Chairman of the Authority’s Board of Directors, Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Ansari, Board Member Eng. Aseel Younis Mohammed, and several department directors, along with a delegation from the Directorate-General for North Africa, the Middle East, and the Gulf of the European Commission, headed by Mr. Floria Irma Koura.
During the meeting, the national strategy for renewable energy and energy efficiency was reviewed, along with the efforts made in developing renewable energy projects. The EU delegation confirmed its readiness to support the Authority in the fields of technical and consultancy studies, as well as training and capacity building for specialized personnel.
It was also agreed to benefit from international expertise and examine leading experiences in renewable energy and energy efficiency projects implemented in several countries with EU support, and to work on strengthening cooperation with these countries to implement similar projects in Libya.
The meeting included presentations on projects carried out by the Authority in several health centers, as well as the maintenance and development project of the solar power plant at the University of Tripoli.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination and strengthening the partnership between the Renewable Energy Authority and the European Union, contributing to Libya’s efforts to transition to more sustainable energy sources. They reaffirmed their commitment to developing joint projects and supporting initiatives that enhance energy security and contribute to sustainable development.
