In a step reflecting Libya’s commitment to strengthening regional and international cooperation in renewable energy, a high-level delegation from the Libyan Renewable Energy Authority participated in the “Kuwait Sustainable Energy Week” (KSEW25), held in Kuwait City from May 11 to 13, 2025. The event was sponsored by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, in collaboration with ESCWA and the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE).

This participation is part of the Authority’s efforts to strengthen its presence at regional events and expand technical and institutional cooperation with partners in the region.
KSEW is considered one of the most prominent regional platforms addressing energy transition issues and electricity market integration. The event attracted over 1,000 experts and decision-makers from both public and private sectors, alongside representatives from international organizations and leading energy companies.
Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Ansari took part in a high-level panel titled:
“Electricity Interconnection and Market Integration: An Approach Toward Effective Regional Energy Transition”
where he presented Libya’s National Strategy for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. He emphasized the importance of building effective regional partnerships to stabilize energy systems and develop unified electricity markets that support the expansion of clean energy projects.
Engineer Nasruddin Al-Barqali participated in a regional discussion panel titled “Climate Resilience and Socio-Economic Development”, where he reviewed climate challenges facing Libya and the region. He stressed the need to integrate climate policies with national development plans, and highlighted the importance of investing in national capacity-building and renewable energy projects to achieve inclusive economic and social development.
The “Kuwait Sustainable Energy Week” aims to promote regional cooperation, facilitate knowledge exchange between countries, accelerate innovation in renewable energy technologies, and showcase pioneering initiatives reflecting Arab countries’ commitment to a sustainable energy future.
The Renewable Energy Authority’s participation underscores its dedication to keeping pace with global energy sector transformations and rebuilding Libya’s energy system on sustainable foundations. This aligns with the goals of diversifying energy sources, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and supporting Libya’s national sustainable development objectives—advancing the Authority’s vision of a safe and clean energy future for coming generations.
