Renewable Energy Authority Participates in the Launch of National Climate Change Strategies in Tripoli

Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Ansari, Chairman of the Renewable Energy Authority, participated in the official launch ceremony of the national strategies and documents on climate change, organized by the Ministry of Environment in Tripoli.

The event marked the announcement of Libya’s First National Communication (INC), National Adaptation Plan (NAP), and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), in the presence of several Libyan ministers, officials, and representatives of international organizations.

Among the attendees were H.E. Mr. Taher Al-Baour, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; H.E. Dr. Ibrahim Al-Arabi, Minister of Environment; the Acting Minister of Water Resources; as well as the Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to Libya, the Chargé d’Affaires of the German Embassy, and representatives of various international missions and relevant national entities.

The event took place within the framework of the project “Sustainable Transition and Partnership in the Field of Energy and Environment: STEP”, funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.

This step comes as part of efforts to support the transition toward clean energy and to strengthen Libya’s capacity to adapt to climate change. It also highlights the pivotal role played by the Renewable Energy Authority in implementing national projects that promote sustainability and reduce carbon emissions.

The event represents a milestone in Libya’s national climate action path and reflects the country’s commitment to active engagement in global efforts to address climate change challenges and to build a more sustainable future.
