The Renewable Energy Authority participated in the activities of the Libya Energy and Economy Summit, which commenced on Saturday, January 24, 2026, and continued for three days, in the presence of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, with high-level participation from international ministers, officials, and representatives of major global energy companies.
The Authority was represented at the Summit by Dr. Abdulsalam Suleiman Al-Ansari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Renewable Energy Authority; Eng. Aseel Younis Mohammed, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Renewable Energy Holding Company; along with Eng. Nasreddin Mohammed Al-Barqali, Member of the Authority’s Board of Directors, in addition to a number of department directors and specialists.
The Summit witnessed broad international participation from sisterly and friendly countries, including Egypt, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Turkey, reflecting the growing international interest in Libya’s energy sector.
Among the most prominent attendees were senior international officials and ministers of energy and petroleum, as well as chairmen and executives of major global oil and gas companies.
The Summit discussed prospects for developing Libya’s energy sector, enhancing international partnerships, and creating an attractive environment for investment, with a focus on renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions.
It also served as a platform for exchanging expertise and exploring opportunities for cooperation in the fields of oil and gas, renewable energy, and the localization of modern technologies.
The Summit’s activities included the signing of memoranda of understanding with American, French, and Egyptian companies to invest in the energy sector and related services.
On the second day, the Renewable Energy Authority participated actively by delivering a comprehensive presentation highlighting its key achievements and future plans for developing the renewable energy sector.
The Authority also took part in several specialized panel discussions addressing the challenges of the energy transition, investment opportunities, and the role of clean energy in supporting the national economy.
The Summit sessions addressed infrastructure development, the strengthening of public–private partnerships, and the establishment of supportive legislative and regulatory frameworks.
The Authority’s participation reaffirms its pivotal role in implementing national energy policies and supporting the path toward sustainable development.
The Summit concluded on Monday, January 26, 2026, underscoring the importance of national and international cooperation in building a more efficient and sustainable energy future for Libya.
