The Renewable Energy Authority Participates in the Libya Conference on Just and Sustainable Energy Transition

Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Ansari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Renewable Energy Authority, participated on the morning of Wednesday, September 24, 2025, along with a number of engineers from the Authority, in the opening ceremony of the Libya Conference on Just and Sustainable Energy Transition.

The conference was organized by the Ministry of Oil and Gas, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Delegation of the European Union to Libya, as part of the "Energy Generation" Initiative. The event is being held at the Corinthia Hotel in Tripoli and will continue for two days.

The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Khalifa Rajab Abdulsadiq, Minister of Oil and Gas, in the presence of Mr. Nicola Orlando, Ambassador of the European Union to Libya, Mr. Gianluca Alberini, Ambassador of the Republic of Italy, and Ms. Sophie, the UNDP Resident Representative in Libya, along with several representatives of diplomatic missions, national and international institutions, and more than 200 participants from initiative ambassadors and stakeholders in the energy, oil, and environmental sectors.

The conference aims to discuss pathways for a just transition toward sustainable energy in Libya, and to enhance cooperation frameworks between relevant national and international institutions, with a focus on adopting responsible environmental practices that ensure a secure and equitable energy future.

The conference agenda included panel discussions with the participation of experts from the Renewable Energy Authority, addressing challenges and opportunities related to the energy transition, and reviewing regional and international experiences in this field, with the goal of formulating practical and locally applicable recommendations.

The first day’s activities also featured a specialized exhibition on sustainable energy and clean technology, which saw the participation of a number of specialists and stakeholders. The exhibition showcased studies and ideas related to the energy sector and its sustainable development
