The second edition of the Libya Energy and Economy Summit kicked off at the Rixos Hotel in Tripoli, Libya, from January 13 to 14, 2024. This summit, held under the auspices of the Government of National Unity, saw active participation from various ministries, institutions, and both international and local companies specializing in energy and related fields. A key participant in the summit was the Renewable Energy Authority, which plays an essential role in this prestigious event. The summit brought together decision makers, professionals, and experts from the oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors. The international forum was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, who delivered a speech emphasizing that a new Libya is built on energy. He also highlighted the significant event of December 2023, when Libya announced the launch of its National Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Strategy. The summit aimed to create opportunities for collaboration between global companies, as Libya seeks to attract international investments in the energy sector. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of international cooperation to harness the energy resources available in Libya. On the second day of the summit, the Chairman of the Renewable Energy Authority participated in a panel discussion with global companies specializing in renewable energy. During this session, the National Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Strategy was presented, showcasing its role in supporting the national economy and contributing to the development of an independent Libya. This summit serves as an important platform to enhance cooperation among various stakeholders in the energy sector in Libya and to develop effective strategies to achieve sustainable development in the field.
