Participation of the Renewable Energy Authority in Washington Meetings to Discuss Financing of Sustainable Energy Projects in Libya

Eng. Aseel Younes Mohamed, Member of the Board of Directors of the Renewable Energy Authority, participated as part of the Government of National Unity’s delegation in a high-level meeting with officials from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Washington, D.C., held on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The discussions focused on financing projects in the fields of energy, healthcare, and entrepreneurship in Libya.

The delegation included Khalifa Abdulsadiq, Acting Minister of Oil and Gas; Mohamed Al-Ghoj, General Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health; Mostafa Al-Manea, Head of the Executive Team for Presidential Initiatives and Strategic Projects; Suhail Bousheha, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Trade; and Aseel Artima, Member of the Board of Directors of the Renewable Energy Authority.

From the IFC side, the meeting was attended by Cheikh Omar Sillah, Regional Director for North and East Africa, along with several senior executives.

The discussions explored opportunities for cooperation in financing renewable energy projects, developing healthcare infrastructure, and supporting entrepreneurial initiatives, as well as strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors.

The Libyan delegation reaffirmed Libya’s commitment to diversifying energy sources, supporting entrepreneurship, and creating job opportunities for youth, as part of a vision aimed at achieving sustainable economic growth and enhancing collaboration with international financial institutions.
