A significant in-person meeting was held yesterday morning, Tuesday, April 28, 2026, bringing together the Renewable Energy Authority of Libya and a high-level delegation from the People’s Republic of China. This meeting took place within the framework of strengthening international partnerships and expanding prospects for cooperation in clean energy fields, as well as exchanging technical and technological expertise, in the presence of the General Authority for Investment Promotion and Privatization Affairs – General Administration.
During the meeting, the Renewable Energy Authority presented the national renewable energy strategy, highlighting Libya’s future vision to diversify energy sources and reduce dependence on fossil fuels, in line with global trends toward sustainable development. A comprehensive presentation was also delivered on the key projects implemented by the authority over recent years, including solar and wind energy projects across various regions, in addition to ongoing efforts to develop infrastructure and enhance energy efficiency.
For their part, members of the Chinese delegation expressed strong interest in Libya’s promising potential, particularly in the field of solar energy. They commended the country’s strategic geographic location and its abundant natural resources. They also affirmed the readiness of Chinese companies to engage in strategic partnerships with the Libyan side and to implement joint projects that would facilitate the transfer of modern technology, support the national economy, and create local job opportunities.
This meeting comes as part of Libya’s direction toward strengthening international cooperation and attracting foreign investment in the renewable energy sector, in a way that supports the achievement of sustainable development goals and enhances the stability of the country’s energy sector.
