Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding Between the Renewable Energy Authority and the Executive Authority for Water Wells Drilling and Maintenance to Promote the Use of Clean Energy

Today, Thursday, May 14, 2026, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Renewable Energy Authority and the Executive Authority for Water Wells Drilling and Maintenance, in the presence of Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Ansari, Chairman of the Renewable Energy Authority, and Eng. Ali Shaoush, General Manager of the Executive Authority for Water Wells Drilling and Maintenance.

The memorandum aims to strengthen joint cooperation between the two entities in the fields of water well drilling, maintenance, and water purification through the utilization of renewable energy technologies, in support of the state's orientation toward environmental sustainability and the transition to clean energy sources.

The MoU also seeks to support the implementation of public policies and development and reform plans by integrating clean energy solutions into water drilling, extraction, and pumping operations, in line with international best practices and standards related to environmental protection and sustainability. This will contribute to reducing emissions and improving air quality.

Furthermore, the memorandum includes the establishment of an integrated framework linking strategic planning with technical implementation to ensure the development of a comprehensive system for wells and water purification plants powered by clean energy. It also aims to create the appropriate regulatory and technical environment for launching high-quality projects that enhance both water and energy security across Libya.
